We are 2 sisters who love to be in stitches. We believe a sense of family and sense of humor are essential to getting through life!!
We watched as little girls while our grandma and mom would sew together and “ease it in”. We also watched our grandmas with their sisters and all the fun they had together, doing each other's hair, traveling, etc. We each began sewing on our grandmothers' Viking machines, and though we have upgraded technology, they just don't make them like they used to.
2 Sisters in Stitches began as a business in fall of 2006 after we had requests from friends to make them bags. It continues to grow. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work, and we remind ourselves as we fall in love with each bag we make “we don't make one that's not cute”.
2SiS is just that – us sisters. We do everything from fabric selection and bag design to sewing and paying the taxes.
We have a soft spot in our hearts for helping those less fortunate, particularly children's causes and believe in giving back to our community and world. We have developed “from Stitches to Riches” where we donate a portion of our profits to worthy causes, and our big dream is to start a charity of our own.
We love to design and create, and do all of the sewing ourselves, in between shuttling children to soccer, softball and ballet, making dioramas and science projects, and taking road trips to see historical sights and family.
Mel is the oldest, but not necessarily the wisest. She loves fabric and big ideas. She lives in Alpharetta, Georgia with her husband and four children.
Holly is a former nurse turned seamstress. She is our OSHA coordinator for things like sewing through fingers. She can find the humor in any situation. She lives in Dahlonega, Georgia with her husband and three daughters. |
